powerstroke vs. cummins

I gotta tell ya I was very impressed with some of the 12V Cummins at our dyno day on 12/8. Many of them were in the 500hp + range with not that much work done to them - fuel plate, intake, exhaust, injectors - the old 12V has no chip - all mechanical. One that was in an OBS F250 put out over 600hp. If the weather wasn't so crappy there would have been some wrenching outside the shop and I could have learned more. Know your enemy, right? But I don't think the 12V Cummins is as reliable or will last as long as our 7.3s.

Its a great motor. I will even say its a better motor than a PSD but unless its in a Ford you won't find one in my driveway. The dodge truck is crap no matter whats in the engine compartment. Now drop a 6bt in a Ford and you have something then.
Given the choice of owning a cummins in a Dodge and a Powerstroke in a Ford....well you can see from my signature where my I stand.
LONG LIVE THE 7.3 POWERSTROKE!!

I'm with TJ.
I own both and love both. I believe the 5.9 is a better motor. Lots of lower end power and has never failed to start, easier to work/Mod on IMHO...........to bad the truck is falling apart around the powertrain
My ford can haul more and has much better brakes but being a supercab it can't get into places my Dodge can and with a solid axle up front it turns on a dime.
Too bad Ford and Cummings didn't hook up.
'Nough said.

Thats all specualtion. Its been that way ever since i can remember. When the 6 blow came out, Supposedly that was the last light duty motor Navistar was to ever build with the problems it had, now here comes the 6.4, and I have heard rumors that the next genereation is already in the works. Heard a rumor from a engineer that he saw a inline 6 by navistar designed specific for ford trucks. Who knows though. Its the moderen day Roswell.
