Last production year for 4.9?
I know they used it up until 1996. Int the F-150's after that when they chenged the body style they switched over to a V-6 if I am not mistaken.
Now they may have still used it into 97 in the 3/4 and 1 tons. Since I think that's when they swapped those body styles.

1996 was the last year for f150, the F150 went to the "troublesome tritons" in 97, 97 f250 and f350 still had 300s, until the 98 year.
by the way, whats with making these trucks out of plastic, rubber and paper thin steel now a days? i thought trucks were heavy duty steel.

That was the old days, now we are in the new "nuy a new vehicle every three years" days.
This is ridiculous, Making vehicles out of plastic. I saw a 94 Firebird (3 months old), I worked at the dealership it was sold from. Three months after the dealership sold it, it came back.
Into the body shop (where I worked). Needless to say, the car was t-boned! Wiped out the front fender (plastic), the door shell (plastic), and the right rear quarter panel (steel).
The only things made of metal on the entire car were the roof, quarter panels, floorboards, frame, and hood. Everything else was all plastic. The driver & passenger in that car (if there was a passenger) were extremely lucky!
