I haven't heard if one is stronger than the other or not, my 84 F250 4x4 with a 6.9 Diesel has the Borg Warner unit... My 84 F150 4x4 with a 300 six has the New Process unit. With that being said I would guess the BW would be the stronger transfer case... never seen either of them broken (under normal use ). Both units use Dexron/Mercon automatic transmission fluid.

NP 208 is a part time transfer case with chain drive. The New Process NP208 transfer case is a strong, reliable unit that features 2.69:1 low range, chain driven aluminum case and is a lot lighter then other cast iron case of the time. The output drop for the front driveshaft is on the driver’s side

The NP208 was introduced in 'Chevrolet and GMC’s K10, K20 and K20 Suburban from 1981 to 1986 and was most popular behind TH350, TH400 and Th700R4 automatic transmissions. NP208’s that were mated to TH700-R4 and had a female 27-spline input gear. TH400s were also used with 208’s, and these had a stronger 32-spline input

Full size Cherokees used the NP208 from '80-'83 and the J-trucks J10 & J20 used it from '80-88. The NP208 was the "Command-Trac". Jeep’s Grand Wagoneer used the NP208 from 1984 until 1988. Dodge used the NP20 in the D series from 1982-1987 and Ford installed the NP208 from 1980 to 1986 in full sized Bronco’s, F250 and F350.

BW 1354 is also a part time transfer case with chain drive. The Borg Warner 1345 transfer case is chain drive with an aluminum case, low range ratio is 2:72:1. Ford introduced the BW1345 in 1980 and utilized it until about 1988 in the F series pickup truck and Full Sized Bronco until 1989.

Here's where I go the info above from.
