2005 f250 5.4 runs like crap ???

My 2005 f250 5.4 takes forever to start and the gauges shake back and forth below 0 rpm. it makes no sense. it also has pitiful response when driving. I can rev it up to about 2700-3000 rpm while sitting still and it goes all the way down to 300 rpm when idling back down. it also shakes the whole truck when its first started. Is there a simple soultion or could this be injectors. Ford just sent me a recall for these trucks on injectors so that might be it. I have no idea, im fed up with this truck. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks and have a merry christmas !!!!

Take it in for the recall, then go from there if that doesn't fix it. Have you scanned it for codes?

I've got a '05 SCrew FX4 with the 5.4. I've kinda got the same crap going on. They replaced a cam phaser at like 15000. That was ok for a while now it sounds like crap again. I've had it in to 2 different dealerships and they both just say "it's supposed to tick like that." I've never had a check engine light but the thing runs super rough at idle sometimes. Sometimes I even think it's going to die on me. The tick is really intermittent. It doesn't really matter if it's hot or cold, it will do it whenever it wants to. The truck just really seems to be lacking power now too. It's been this way for over a year but I can't seem to pinpoint the problem. They relubed the driveshaft and updated the computer to the latest programming about 4 months ago and I now seem to have a hesitation when I hit the accelerator, especially to pass someone. I got the recall letter last week on the injectors. Any ideas on what might be causing all this? Fuel filter was replaced about 4500 miles ago. K&N was just cleaned about 5000 miles ago and it's still pretty spotless.

You guys probably know more than me so I'll see what you all think!

Coil packs

Yeah, I've never had them checked. I'll have that checked when I take it in for the recall and tranny service done. Someone recommended having the torque box drained when I get the tranny service done.....what do you all think?

dont know a damn thing about tourqe box but have had 5 ford trucks both gas and diesel since 89 ran them all between 85-185k a year never got rid of any before 225k liked them all the last one is gas but when I blew its preadisors engine I couldnt be too picky ( the only diesel utility they had in stock was 52 K too rich for my use) at the dealer I get my service at I bought this from another ford dealer. my salesman was a ass. You should have seen the looks at my serviceing dealer when I pulled up with a competors "tag" and started transfering tools .the truck shop foreman (a friend) gave me the finger but the service manager could not resist calling my salesman back to the bay to rub it in. The competitor beat them by 1576 bucks on the gas Same truck same options gas I hope this is my last utility body Im now training my field replacement next one is a king ranch
