towing with a Bronco II -and- lockers

I usually tow at least once a week with my B2.

I really want front and rear lockers for the mild off road stuff I do and I was wonderng if anyone else

1) towed a 1500 pound trailer
2) had a rear lockers on their
3) manual shift vehicle.

I was just wondering what the challenges were.

Just get a locker that you can turn on and off because you don't want constant lock when driving on regular roads.

Ok Honestly the BII is a good lil machine but the Gods at ford gave it crap for axles the 7.5 in the rear has no chance with even a limited slip and as far as the D28 they break if you yell at them. so go and find a wrecked EXPLORER the front is a Dana 35 and is a direct fit as for the rear ya have to cut off the spring perches and reweld them on the top Then you will have a heavy duty 8.8 in the rear we did his and made it in to a 5.0 EFI 4 speed with a 435 and a 205 transfer case axles held up well frame did not

I agree, I have broken the axles just running open with P235s. I got so I could R&R an axle in 70 minutes.

I plan on Explorer gear before locking it, I was concerned just with the handling aspect. I rather not waste my money on a selectable locker.

I already bought the most aggressive LT235 I could find, I was just wondering if I could get away with a cheap locker as I have to tow on and off road with it.

Cheap and and useful I would have to say the Good Ol' Dana Trac Loc just a regular non aggressive but dependable limited slip ...The ratchet type locker work well but i have seen my share of them catching and breaking shafts ( Chevy 10 Bolt on 33's ) my dude has that Chevy disease thing going for him

I have a 90 2.9 with the stock rear running 31x10.5/15 BFG AT's have had it off road numerous times with no problems except for breaking a leaf spring which I replace with a 4 leaf Explorer set then took apart my old springs and repacked the new with 2 more leaves.
Not a bad ride and added 2 inches of lift.

Got it your messages, thanks. Yes, very informative site as well. I had actually skimmed over that article and not read to the bottom when I was getting ready to swap the explorer leaves. Thanks for the help on that. I may have found something else to play with on my BII now. Rebocardo, hope we haven't hi-jacked your thread.
