P0603 Code with additional issues?

I understand the usual cause for the infamous P0603 code is due to having a tuner in use and they trip this "Keep Alive Memory" (KAM) code.

I have a tuner on my truck and have enjoyed it for weeks now. I have seen this code come and go along with the usual P1000 and P1211 codes. I have seen all of them disappear as well -- which is good.

I keep my programmer/display connected to the ALDL port full time and I use the PID display to show my boost, EOT, EGT's etc. What I noticed recently is that the display goes blank (turns off) while I'm driving and sometimes resets/reboots and the truck seems to run just fine. The other day I was driving around and it just went blank. Until I unplugged it from the ALDL port and re plugged it back in it would have been off. Probably until the next key starting, I imagine.

I am wondering if my PCM really has a bad KAM battery and maybe I need to address it by replacing it -- board level or the whole PCM?

Has anyone experienced this?

EDGE goes back...

Well, it's now the 29th of January and I made arrangements to send my Edge unit back to PMT Diesel for a credit. I laid the ground work so that PMT wouldn't be stuck with the unit (they graciously offered to take it back, even after 4 months of my woes) so they are definitely a good company to do business with IMHO.

Edge just couldn't respond to my issues.

The latest was a wierd 3-4...4-3...3-4 shifting issue at WOT. It didn't do this as long as I wasn't in the pedal at full WOT. It didn't do this when I had the stock program working for me either.

I have some experience tuning for electronic 4 speed transmissions and to me, clearly, this was a tuning issue. I am considering the SCT Livewire tuner for it's greater tuning capabilities and the fact that I can get some Diesel guru's to offer me custom programs for my combo.

Nope, I'm not getting any codes related to the trans. The trans is not slipping. It's an issue in the tuning making the trans shift up and down, that's all.
