Shifter issues

This is an 06 explorer. has the center console shifter.. it does not want to shift into gear alot. you have to pump the brake pedal a few times and wait for the lever to release. sounds like an air release when it does. anyone experienced this, or know if there are any recalls for this?

Thanks.

Steina is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Sounds like the brake-shift interlock is out of adjustment or sticking. Still under warrany, hopefully...........

Must be a bad year for those. I've had my '06 in three times for shifter problems. Replaced the brake release solenoid 1st time, shifter assembly the second time, now it's in for shifter detent problems. It won't lock into the positions firmly.
