Wire it to be powered whenever the starter solenoid is powered (for starting) and use an oil pressure switch to power it once the engine is running. This way, if you have an accident you won't have a ready source of fuel for the fire!

I am using a Carter 5.5 psi electric. Originally had a Carter 8 psi but replaced it because the carb didnt need that much pressure.
Rick,
I wish you would go into your statement a little further. My pump is not wired that way, and I've been concerned about it. It currently has an on off toggle independent of the ignition with fuse, but if god forbid there is an accident, I would have to be able and thinking enough to get the toggle off.
Maybe you could start a separate thread?
