Electric fuel pump on 272

Hi
I´m planing to use a electric fuel pump on my 1956 272 engine.
Is there anyone who knows what capacity and preasure a electric fuelpump suitable for my engine should have?

i run about 8 psi on my 292 its stock with a 600 edelbrock and runs great

Be sure when you connect it that you don't just hook it to the ignition switch and have it powered any time the key is on. That is pretty unsafe.

Wire it to be powered whenever the starter solenoid is powered (for starting) and use an oil pressure switch to power it once the engine is running. This way, if you have an accident you won't have a ready source of fuel for the fire!

I am using a Carter 5.5 psi electric. Originally had a Carter 8 psi but replaced it because the carb didnt need that much pressure.

I wish you would go into your statement a little further. My pump is not wired that way, and I've been concerned about it. It currently has an on off toggle independent of the ignition with fuse, but if god forbid there is an accident, I would have to be able and thinking enough to get the toggle off.
Maybe you could start a separate thread?
