heater

ok guys im sure this has been ask before but here i go -how can one get more heat --or more volume out of the defrosters on a 1978 f-250 whit a standard heater

That one should produce a lot of heat. Are you sure the heater core is not plugged?

no it is not plugged i took the heater box out of my 77 high-boy and it threw very good heat
--can u have a heater hose if it is bad go closed on ya

You can check the hoses by grapping them and seeing if they are hot. I would check them just before the core to make sure the water is reaching it.

I'll betcha the crappy Ford inline vacuum controlled heater water valve isn't opening all the way. The valve is part metal/part plastic and has a nipple on the top for a vacuum hose. A total POS since 1974, when Ford first started using the little darlin'

It's located in one of the heater hoses at the rear center or passenger side rear of the engine. Used on most Ford cars and trucks for 20+ years.

D4AZ-18495-A (Motorcraft YG-136)

It's been on Fords "Best Seller" list since day one, so it's still available from Ford (NAPA and others).

mine doesnt have that valve on it i no what your talking about my jeep has one on it
