gear box replacement? other temporary options
I was told that i probably need a gearbox replacement. He said that on a shaft thing where there is a seal a grove commonly develops, and generates a leak. There used to be a repair kit, but unless you put it on super perfect, it wont last and you have to do it again.
The leak comes out on to the exhaust, and im halfway down on fluid.
Is just filling it an option till i can get a 'kit' or a rebuilt box, and what is the max time i should 'just fill it'?
Thanks a lot

Rebuilt gearboxes are available from NAPA. but the the rebuilts usually don't last past a year or so. A company called Red Hat rebuilds the boxes properly and adds a bearing that Ford left out (prolly on purpose).
