Smile New to F150

Hello all. I just wanted to introduce myself. I've been poking around for the past couple of weeks to get a feel for what I'm in for. My Father recently purchased a 2007 F150 and is giving me his 95 F150 EB Edition 2wd. My biggest concern is the milieage.....302,000 all highway, he never went off road with the truck. The last 7 years has been all local driving, he'd use my Mother's car for any distance driving.

He recommends an engine overhaul and new exhaust. His only complaint is the "poor gas mileage" and "its burning oil". This is my first truck and my mechanical knowledge is limited, but I've never been afraid of learning something new. From what I've read and heard, an engine overhaul isn't as cost effective than purchasing a new or younger engine. I'll leave the engine swapping to professionals, but I'll do the minor upgrades with the assistance of others.

In my opinion, she needs new paint and lucky enough my Father-in-law owns a body shop and has agreed to show me how to do minor body work and paint. I need to pay for paint and shop supplies, but I'll make it up in knowledge gained.

So, long story short........I'll be back, so pardon my "newbie" questions.

These trucks really aren't that good in the gas mileage area. so depending on your motor and tranny you have, expect anything from 12 to 17. If your mileage is under 12 then you are having some problems.

Its a 302/V8. The transmission was replaced around 80k miles (around year 2000). Any servicing the truck needed was done at a Ford dealer, he is religous about that with his cars/trucks. I asked about the gas mileage, he commented that the truck is getting about 15 miles/gallon. IIRC, that is not too far from the 19 miles/gallon on the sticker.

quicklook2...............good point.

That milage doesn't sound bad to me - my van has a 302 and that's about what I get.
