installing new double din radio & polk speakers:

a few questions; how many electrical plugs does the basic factory cd unit have?
regarding the double din radio kit, do you use the metal sleeve
that comes with the new radio or the mounting brackets that
come with the kit? any photos would me much appreciated.

 

The basic stock unit has only two or three harness going into it. As far as the metal sleeve it might depend on your radio. When I've done these I've only had to use the mounting brackets that came with the double din kits.

 

You will be better off getting the mounting kit for your truck. It will cost you about $10 and will screw to your radio and use the factory mounting holes to secure it.
