I built my own mufflers (video included)

check them out. They are on a 460 big Block carbed motor. The pics start half-way down the thread and the video is near the end.

Do you want a jod? They look prety good. Did you weld the core in? The packing will shrink and let the core rattle. We weld one end of our core solid and let the other end set in a slip fit. A lot of times if the cores are welded on both end it'll crack due to the fact the core will grow and shrink at differant rates than the body. The slip fit will allow it to move independantly.

actually, without even thinking of them shrinking, I still ended up welding one side and slip fitting the other. Thats a good point. Honestly, I have not tig welded in years so I was re-learning. The welds could have looked a little better. thanks for the replys

It'll be interesting to see how they sound after a few thousand miles, getting good and hot-
I'm considering building my own for my Galaxie, but I'll probably just use glasspacks due to space issues. At least trucks have more room to play with than lowered full frame cars.
