1977 Ford Granada Exhaust

I have a 1977 ford granada. It needs a new exhaust system. What does the exhaust have to have to pass inspection?? Do i need a cat converter????

Whatever your state requires. Usually what came on it from the factory. In some states cars this old are exempt from emissions testing. In Texas it is 24 years. Check with your local inspection station. jd
