Unhappy Towing mods on 1999 F-250 help

I would like to put a exhaust brake on my 1999 F-250 7.3 diesel with 75,000 miles on it but I'm not sure which is best. My truck is all stock now. I tow a 28' fifth wheel weighs 10,000 lbs. I also see on Ebay a module that uses the factory warm up valve to slow the truck. Does that work or what? Also what chip should I use to improve mileage and power?

I know my reply will seem bias to the BD Exhaust Brake but here is a link to a thread that discussed (IMO) the two leading brands of exhaust brakes that should help you.

Like you mentioned there are options to convert your EBPV (heat riser) to work like an exhaust brake, BD sells one called the Brake Loc. If you are towing over 7000-8000Lbs I recommend a complete exhaust brake. For the automatics they will need some type of torque convertor lock up controller, BD has three to choose from and I can discuss your options with you if you like to insure you get the one best suited for your needs.

For performance chips/tuners there are many good quality ones to choose from and most will improve fuel economy. You will hear all about them on this thread, I think you will find that most guys on here are using the SCT. Personally BD likes the Edge Products, either the Evolution Tuner of Juice with Attitude module for the 7.3L, do your research and again find the one that best suits your needs.

You should run gauges with the chip or tuner and again you many options here. Some modules like the juice with attitude will come with gauges while most tuners will not, although some tuners like the Edge Evolution will have the ability to read boost and trans temp etc... while left plugged into the OBD port. Then there is the option for analog gauges or a stand alone digital read out. BD offers Isspro black faced gauges and Stewart Warner Silver faced gauges. We also have our own 3 in 1 digital read out called the BD X-Monitor. If you read my post in the manufactures specials section of this forums you will see they are on special for the month of December, great deals!

Hope this helps.

I am having troubles finding the link but it is called BD Brake vs Pac Brake, I was sure it was on this forum but I could be wrong, I will let you know when i find it.

Like said earlier, I truly believe BD had the best quality brake with the best hold back through the entire RPM range. But to try and sound as least bias as I can I would recommend our competitors Pac Brake if not ours over any other brand on the market. The reason I feel these are the superior brakes on the market is because of how they regulate back pressure. Pac has recently switched the the design we have been running for years which is a variable butterfly that holds back pressure at the lower RPMS much more effectively than a butterfly valve with a hole drilled in it to control back pressure. I can get more into why this is important if you want but will try to find the post that is already, its great because there was a lot of end user feedback as well as myself and a rep from Pac.
