No the block heater heats the water not the oil. The block heater uses 1000 watts off electricity prt hour. At .07 per hour which it is around here it would cost .28 a day. About $9.00 per month. Remeber these engines run at about 190 degrees. The most wear on an engine occurs in the cold start. So a warm engine on a cold morning has hardly any wear compared to a cold engine. With a block heater you can start your truck in the morning an drive off right away an be warm. Remember an idling truck not moving means no MPG an more fuel burned. So use that block heater religiusly.

Ok Thanks For The Info. I Noticed It Does Start Faster And Easier With The Block Heater On Overnight. And Have Warm Heat Right Away. I Was Going To Put The Block Heater On A Timer So It Warms The Engine At Night But The Truck Sits All Winter And I Guess There Is No Need For That If It Is Sitting. I Will Wait Till Spring And Then Start It Up. I Just Thought That Starting It Every Now And Then Would Do It Good.
