The difference between +0.030, and +0.040 is only 2 cubic inches, so there is little performance to be gained. The availability and cost of the pistons in those overbores would be a bigger factor in my opinion. I went with +0.030" because it is a common size. Tim Meyer lists +0.030" and +040" in his piston section.
These blocks are relatively cheap. If you ever need to rebore it, you would probably start with a fresh block.
I didn't think that there was much difference in power between the two bores. I also thought about buying another block if needed next time but I think I'll stick with the .030 bore. I'm sure I'll have somemore questions with my rebuild mods once I get it bored.
Thanks guys

People around here reman their blocks by putting new sheves into their cylinders returning the engine to a standard bore.... it costs around 200 bucks and your block is as good as new....

If you shaved your heads simply go with a slighltly bigger cam to lower your dcr
right...however then your putting the cart before the mule so to speak...ie build the engine around the cam and thus performance that you want...

Glad you guys brought up the sleeve thing--. Question I have had for a long time but never thought to ask.
Can thicker sleeves be put in that become "siamese" and allow a larger bore (~4.18") like the SVO blocks? Just think of the cubes that would allow with a 4+ stroke! Inquiring minds want to know!

You need some cylinder wall left to install sleeves. You can't make the cylinder OD larger than it has been cast.
You would have to cut apart the block to do that. There may be some avant-garde welding tricks that would allow that, but not on a practical level.
