I have an old truck that I had to braze some studs into the exhaust bolt holes -because the PO broke off the castings where the bolts screwed in.....I eliminated a very bad exhaust leak - but the heat and the funkyness of cast iron produced a very small coolant leak - at one spot - where its brazed......just enough to create small whisps of steam on the hot cylinder head -
anybody know of a really good sealer to add to coolant to plug the leak?.....I have used Silver Seal in the past on other vehicles but not for years.....wondering if something new /better is out there.....
changing the head is not an option - Im sure its NOT leaking into the engine- I removed the plug and no indication of a problem - the outside of the head coolant passage is whats involved here
Alumiseal If done correct will seal it. But I have found getting the engine warm, add to warm coolant. Let it run for sometime. Alumiseal will settle if not put in a warm engine and circulated real good.
blue devel is the absolute best. i have used it for blown head gaskets on 3.8 fords, 3.1 chevys, and blown intake gaskets on GM V6's. follow the directions, and you will never have any problems with it again.

Bar's Leak, heavy duty stop leak. the one with the pellots. trick is shake the bottle to loosen the pellots, then top off radiator then drive it. the flow and heat will get the product thru the system. Ive even sealed bad head gaskets with this stuff untill i could get to it and change them. my 2 cents.

Where do you buy blue devil? That is a new one I have never heard of. Any info greatly appreciated.
Craig
that is the same price as at napa.
a 32 oz bottle will usually treat 2 smaller engines.
Thanks for that info. I never saw it at Napa but I'll ask the next time I go in. I have an account with my local Napa so they get the bulk of my business.

For some things like this instead of wleding to build up and area these new
generations of titanium epoxy are miracle workers. I even had a rear shock
on a motorcycle repaired with it, the chrome was rusted and the shaft was
eaten away pretty deep made it lose all the oil and tore the seal a bit of
this and some grinding brought it back to spec abeit with a non chromed
area but it has no problem.

Before posting fuel related problems Run a couple of bottles of dedicated gas line dryer through IT!!!!!!!
There now I don't have to say it every time!!!!
water glass or sodium silicate is thw best I've ever used but can't remember if it's compatable with anti-freeze
We used to use sodium silicate(egg preserver) mixed with flax seed. This would stop a large leak. This is the main ingredient in K&W without the flax seed. We use K&W for cracked heads, head gaskets. If done properly, it will stop a large leak. jd
