I'm in the process of swapping a 2004 5.4L
engine into a 99' F250 super duty, and I ran into a problem. There's no spot to put the
intake manifold
tuning valve in the 04' engine. There's also no spot for the coolant temp sensor in the crossover. There's a flat spot on the coolant passage where the temp sensor should go (so it looks like I can just drill and tap the hole for it myself), but the intake is totally different where the IMTV bolts to.. there's just no way to put it on the new engine. The old engine had the alloy manifold, and the new engine has the updated plastic manifold. The ports on the old engine are small and round, and on the newer engine they are large and square, so I can't use the old manifold on the new engine. Has anyone ever run into this problem before? Can I just leave the IMTV unplugged, or will that throw a CEL? I don't want to get into swapping ECU's or wiring, so if I need to get into that I might just return this engine and try to find an older one. The problem is, I didn't notice this problem till I had the engine bolted into the engine bay.
