5.4 3v Daisy Power

My truck is playing a game of "she gives me power, she gives me power not". WTF is wrong with this driveline. I've got adequate but nothing special power under the hood. However today, some little highschooler decides to pull out in front of me. As I coast up behind him and apply the brakes, he starts stomping his brakes. Road rage here I went. I decided to floor the thing to try and pull up beside and around him(being he didn't feel driving without the brakes was the thing to do). As I swung it out to go around, I'm sure he got on the gas as well but holy cow. I put it too the floor and for at least a couple of seconds, the truck just sat there. No significant tranny drop, no RPM change, nothing. It's like the truck decided it didn't want to accept my decision to haul a--. Once the truck decided to start moving it was too long too late. It was embarassing to say the least. WTF is wrong with Ford? I'm glad I wasn't trying to get out of a train's way. Otherwise, I would have been toast......

Well i did notice the same thing with the throttle response, it sucks. I do not like this whole drive by wire concept. It is instead of you actually controlling the throttle yourself, you are essentially asking the computer to do it for you. You can go to the dealership and have them re flash your pcm for the drive by wire.

Ain't that the truth, LOL. My wife and kids would be glad to know my truck has this feature.
Bad thing is that I normally drive really trying to avoid getting into this sort of situation. Today was an exception. I can't stand people using their cars as a security blanket thinking their car will protect the actions of their stupidity.
I've read some threads tonight and found that the problem may be in the drive by wire thing. I have an early model 05' that I've read might could use a reflash of the PCM to update this hesitation.
You're right though, I shouldn't have to let my truck be the better man. I should have just slowed down and gone on about my way.
Merry Christmas!!!!!1

I don't like the concept either. It was probably for the best today with the road rage, but if I really need the response and get this sort of delay, it might not end in my best interest(ie merging onto interstates, roads, etc..)

get your PCM reflashed. it's not normal for there to be a long delay. a split second delay is normal however.

Do you have to now run premium ( 92-93) gas? I had a tuner for my 95 that mandated the use of BIG $ gas, & am avoiding that now, but if 87-89 will work...I LIKE POWER UPGRADES ( almost as much as money)

With level one (Just transmission tuning) and level two (engine and Trans tuning) you can run 87-89 with no problem. That is what it is tuned for. Now level 3, it will tune it to use 93 octane. I always just run mine on two.

The pcm does not "like" a 3-1 downshift. It has to think about it. The tranny does not like it either. Yes,the Edge will help with the tranny & throttle response.

Buy a Edge and run it on Level 2 (87 Octane), and it will feel like you have a V8 under the hood....stomp it for the first time and it will make you

I bought mine from Discount Power Parts (Which is a sponsor here). The link to it is here. I think they are $399 right now.

i would like to say that Ford has fixed this issue at least in the 07' model year..being in the new york area I have found myself in similar situations sometimes stupid and ego related and sometimes trying to not get my truck smashed by some moron......that being said some ******** was doing the brake check thing in front of me with an SS silverado I changed lanes slowly passing as he started weaving into my lane I punched and man that 5.4 just woke up no hesitation at all
