Anyone towing with 3.31 Rear

Anyone towing the 2008 Expedition 4x4 XLT
with standard 3.31 rear

and have the HD Tow package
with 7,700 GVWR
9,200 Tow Rating
15,000 GCWR?

Wondering how it is performing with the 3.31 rear axle...

Is the 3.31 even an option for the 4x4? I checked the fleet site because it usually has more info and the regular site was hanging up on the '08 Specs.

Here's a copy/paste from the fleet site.

I don't see the 3.31 4x4 option here.
*********** EDIT **********
Right after posting, I checked the towing guide and it shows the 3.31 as an option for 4x4 (non-EL) and a 15,000 GCWR for 3.31 + HD tow package

Ford sells the 3.31 rear as Standard equipment on ALL Non-EL models. For an added $75 you can get the 3.73 rear (option only).

The 3.73 is standard on ALL EL models.

Only the 3.31 rear (with HD Tow package) will give you 9,200 max towing (4x2 or 4x4).

The 3.73 (with HD Tow package) only rates at 9,050 on (non-EL) models.

with Tow package 9,000 (4x2 EL)

with Tow package 8,750 (4x4 EL)

without Tow package ALL 2008 Expeditions Only have a Max Tow of 6,000

Our '07 XLT 4x4 with HD tow has the 3.73 axles and cruises at 65 mph at 1800 rpm. 3.31 might work, the torque curve is pretty flat and the rpms should be about 1600 at that speed.

no you get 9,200 lbs w/ 3.73s too as long as you get 3.73s on the 4x2.. you only get 9,000 lbs when you go to a 4x4 due to the added weight. All units have a 15K lb GCVW, all are limited by the transmission per the owners manual. On fords website it shows no 3.31s for the HD Tow package. but it does show 9200 lbs w/ the 3.73s. If I were towing at the limit I'd be darn sure I had a EL, an extra 12 in of wheelbase makes a huge difference in towing.

Check out the Ford Towing Guide (2008)...

ONLY the STANDARD 3.31 rear has a Max Towing of 9,200 (2x2 & 4x4)

3.73's are OPTIONAL ONLY and rated for 9,050lbs (4x4)

There is no rating for a 3.73 (4x2)

EL'S are Only rated for 8,750 (4x4) / 9,000 (2x2)

Again, ONLY the 3.31 Rear is Rated for 9,200lbs NOT the 3.73
