Help...7.3 e350 thermostat replacement,abs ,starting

Hi, im in the cold north ,close to santas place.I just purchased a 96 e350 4x4 ambulance 4wabs dually with the 7.3l,83000miles(135K) it has 3 issues
1.. temp is low,i do have heat front and rear while driving and high idle. and i have the grille shut in with canvas.it just seems to stay about 1/4 up the gauge never reaching the mid point.
2.. sometimes a rea b**ch to start have to use a WEE bit of instant start(scarey)even after plugged in.always runs good but has that real sour diesel smell even after hours of operation and the caty has just been removed.is that a normal smell?is there an air/fuel adjsment? my 07 dodge 5.9 cummins doesnt stink like this does.
3..abs light is on,ford scanner cant communicate with module(needs replacing they said so i bought and replaced only to find it doesnt work either. i replaced it still abs light is on. abs was off until my mechanic replaced ALLthe front braking parts, then the light came on.if i use low 4x4 in reverse it kicks the abs on and is ok for 2 mins then comes on again after forward high speed.

I tried researching these issues but cant get find the right link or forum help.i am a newby here so maybe have blocks on for now.

I need location info and re/re of thermostat and which one to use.
Need help in locating the glowplug relay? and how hard is it to replace g/plugs?
The abs issue maybe solved if i had a wiring/sensor schematic including ohm meter values.
This is a working ambulance so repair down time is also an issue.Any help i get will be greatly appreciated.
