bed lining floor

i was wondering if it would be a good idea to use bed liner for the inside of the truck on the floor. i just got water in my truck and the carpet is wet. So i was thinking i could just rip it up and use a bed liner. what would be the cheapest one i could get?

You can get a used bedliner for about $25, But they are stiff plastic. How is that gonna work on a cab floor with the hump and varied geometry? You can get a custom fitted full width rubber floor mat for about $100. That would be my choice and a lot less work. Not to mention a much higher level of style.

i think he meant something like line-x, and in that case - YES, you can. seems to be pretty popular to do as well.

Lots of off roaders do it for that reason. It works fine.

You can go cheap (like most of us) and just get spray cans of undercoating for $3 each.
I used Duplicolor undercoating with "sound eliminator"....whatever, I sprayed my celing with it before I put a never been there before headliner in the '85 and I'm not quite done yet, so I cant say if it helped with sound or not.....

Anyways, Or you can go more expensive with Line-x...Rhino..etc.

IMHO, I think spraying a thick coating everywhere will make the truck more quiet, and if you don't run a carpet, it's so easy to clean off, thats why off-roaders use this method, just hose her down.

Spend some serious prep time or it will peel up. The stuff chips pretty easily as well. I spend more time preping the floor than spraying it and I still get some chips in it. About once a year I respray the floor pans.

Use scotch brite, steel wool, etc to scuff the paint. Then clean with an evaporative solvent like acetone (wear plastic gloves). Surface prep will be the key.

The other option would be to find a stock vinyl floor mat from an XL model and install it over the pad of your existing truck. I ordered my 02 this way (Carpet delete option) from the factory.

I'd be worried that the cheaper coatings will make the inside of your truck more noisy.
