power steering box identification. HELP
I have a 1972 F250 that was converted to a 1978-79 Dana 60 front.
i need a new power steering box.
when i tried to ask for one at the wrecking yard near me, they showed me one for a 78-79 f250 4x4 that mounted on the outside of the frame rail and had 4 mounting holes.
mine mounts on the inside of the frame rail near the radiator and only has 3 mounting holes.
it has a tag on top that reads: HCF B3 026935

The gearbox is not original to your truck...someone got creative.
HCF-B3 = 1965/66 THUNDERBIRD Power Steering Gear Box.
This is a Ford designed gear (NOT a Bendix).
Variations were used thru the 1990's, but this 1965/66 T-Bird design is unique on how it mounts.
The seal kits are readily available from Ford, NAPA and others.
Ford (updated) part numbers: D7AZ-3E501-A .. Input Shaft Seal Kit / F3AZ-3E502-A .. Sector Shaft Seal Kit.
I'd try NAPA for a rebuilt unit, or have yours rebuilt. These T-Bird gearboxes are scarce today.
