Newer 351W swap to older truck?

Hey everyone. I have an 83 F-250 with a 351W/C-6, 4X4. The engine died last weekend, and I need a quick temporary fix. I found a mid 90s FI 351 for $500. My question is can I just pull the EFI intake off and put my carb and manifold on? How about putting a mechanical fuel pump on the new engine? And any thoughts about keeping the old V-belt set up I have now vs. the newer serpentine? Oh one more thing, can I throw my Duraspark II dist in the newer engine to avoid rewireing trouble? Thanks for any info..

Yes, you can use your carb stuff on the newer motor. You'll need to swap your old timing cover and fuel pump eccentric to the new motor or put an electric fuel pump on. I went the easy way and did the electric fuel pump (Carter 4070).
I would switch over to the serpentine set-up. Just measure the distance of the front accessories to make sure they will fit with your radiator and shroud. Take a look at the alternator too. It might be a one wire with the voltage regulator built in. If it is you won't need to use the regulator that in the truck.
For the distributor you can swap yours over to the new motor and run that. If the donor motor is 94ish-97 351w check to see if it has roller lifters. If it does you will need to put a steel gear on your distributor.

Easiest to use v-belt setup, which means swapping timing cover and water pump.
