first diesel

Well just got my first diesel and want to know what are some things I should do to it to get some extra power. It has a big open element air filter and straight piped 4" exhast with a 3" down tube. It has 238,000 on it and runs great. Just curious what to do first?

Thanks

You already have a head start on the mods with your open EXH and Intake.
Before you add any power-adders you should get gages to keep an eye on the important stuff. Most here have EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp), Boost and Trans Temp (Automatic only). When you add more power you increase the exhaust temps to the point of failure....turbo or piston melt-down. The tranny will suffer too if it gets too hot (and It will) so a larger cooler is a something to add.

The next step depends on your wallet
Custom burned chips are the best and the most expensive
Handheld scanner are a bit cheaper but won't give you the performance of a chip.
10K mod, or ICP mod is cheap and easy.

Good luck with your mods. You got a solid truck to play with.
