Ya know...I just might make it! I'm planning a trip across country in that time frame. I'll be shipping my Excursion to San Fransisco and driving it to Ohio and then down to SC draggin' (hopefully) a rented travel trailer. Time to show the kids America!

This is good as it helps me nail down some dates! Thanks for the work guiri & joe. I know you've made LOTS of polls and plans!

George,

Thanks for understanding...and I am truly sorry I missed that one.

Matt,

While you didn't hear this from me (wink)...if your bud REALLY wants to go...it is a public campground...there will be others there with us...heck...I'd rather have the park filled with BLUE OVALS even if they aren't SD chassis'...(end wink)

Monsta,

HOLY COW!!!...that would be AWESOME if you could make it!...that whole body of water thing kept us from figuring you could join...but that would be so cool if you could!

joe.

I'm serious! I've been searching for the options to make this trip a reality and it looks as if my original thought of renting a travel trailer and shipping my Excursion over is the best bet. Renting as RV is about $1500 more.

So far my plan is to ship it to San Diego (not SFO), drive to Phoenix to pick up a travel trailer, keep heading East through Texas and on to Beaufort, SC to visit my parents. We'll then head North making a stop in the Capital (maybe) and over to southern, OH where I'll visit my brother and sister and then down to TN to the meet for a day or two before we head back to Phoenix going a more northerly route to search out the largest ball of twine.

I can ship my truck for $975 one way. Since I'll be traveling about 4500-5000 miles, the mileage charge on an RV is about the same price as the R/T shipping for my truck. Add in mandatory insurance and worse fuel mileage...well...

Well since Hawaii is about 2700 miles from San Diego...that works out to about 8.3mpg!!!

Since gas over here is about $3 per gallon...

It is costing you $975 or roughly the equivalent of 325 gallons of gas (975/3)

For those 325 gallons your Ex is traveling 2700miles...

2700 miles / 325 gallons = 8.3 MPGs!!!...NOT BAD for a V10 plowing thru water!!!

(I hope my logic and math are right! )

joe.
