I agree!! I only like 1996 and older trucks. I do think the current Ranger trucks still look good, though.

nex ttime you stay your bumper is strong take it off and try to twist it, the flop around like a rag and you cant twist them 180 degrees.. i reaplced them at a shop i worked at and they are 1/2 the thickness of the pre superduty trucks

yeah new trucks are getting too futuristic and ugly

hey i guys i am new here, saw this post and just had to say something. new trucks are way to plasticy looking and futuristic. new trucks today are just hi powered cars with beds. they ride feel and handle like cars. here is my summary.

dodge ram ok

ford f150 ok but a little on the futuristic side

chevys look like a big, kids toy

nissans have love it or hate it styling

Toyotas big bulky ugly. gargantuan front doors and hideous tail lights.

i cant believe these new 07s are what we call a pick up truck, its crazy

the most attractive older trucks to me are 87-96 ford , 73-98 chevy ck and 94-2001 dodge ram. those trucks look way nicer than some trucks made today. i wish they would just build the bodys and frames just like the older predecessors and stick in the new motors and drivetrains. id buy that. id buy a 2007 1992 body style ford pickup, in a heartbeat. well anyways thanks for reading.

I still think Ford has the best looking trucks on the road today. The 150 an superduty are fine looking trucks compared to the competition. But the older trucks are nice as well.

the old frames dont have crumple zones.. so they last. unlike the new ones that are designed to fold up in a accident.

New trucks are really getting uglier IMO. Actually, all of the automotive industry is, due to that fact that they're making disposable pieces of junk instead of what they used to make, which was cars and trucks that lasted for decades. How much styling can you really get out of a plastic quarter panel or bed side?

The new trucks have the front end of a refrigerator, and the body styling to match it. The last nice looking Ford F-150 was the '97-03. I admit, I'm a fan of the '48-03 trucks and thats about it. Not a huge fan of the blocky looking Super-Dutys (and they messed up the Econolines ). They always say that the older trucks look boxier, however, the newer ones are just as bad if not worse. They use to make styled boxy trucks with nice round corners, now they make boxy trucks with boxy-cheap corners. It's disgusting. There is more plastic and stupid clips then there is metal. The only brand-new truck IMO that has a decent look about it are the new full sized Dodges, but with there reliability rating and dealer service, that kinda counts them out. Chevy's are all ugly as they have been since about 1985 or so, newer Ford's are ugly but better then Chevy's, and the japanese trucks look like they got toddlers to draw the concepts while in the midst of a tantrum. Ridiculous.

The last decent looking Exploder was the '01. Rangers still look okay. Everything except for the retro designs like the Mustang are... well really really bland and disappointing. They could do so much more, and should considering you have to shell out 40K for a truck nowadays.

Oh, and as far as a truck goes, I agree with greythorn3. I want one thats not going to "crumple" up.

My .05 Cents worth .

But aren't crumple zones suppose to save lives of the people who drive the vehicles and the people in other vehicles during an accident? They don't just put them in there so when you get into an accident you'll have to buy a whole new truck.

thats what they would like you to think, but have you seen the ford truck crash footage of the 70's? seems like that little car crumple zones killed them.. milks hald empty in one and half full in another.. you put yoru faith in plastic i will put mine in steel.

wow...your right....death is preferable to having to replace the frame in my truck.....

Conspriacy theorys aside, crumple zones do save lives. From an engineering stand point, something that is very ridgid causes much more damage than something that gives when it strikes you at high speed. If you need visual proof of this go take a look at the crash videos of formula 1 cars from 15 years ago, the cars front ends were built like tanks, the driver of the car that caused the crash usually walked away, but whatever car he hit, that driver was usually dead. Now, with crumple zones and breakaway parts, formula 1 drivers that crash walk away, and so do the people they hit. If you want more proof yet, go take a soda can and bash yourself in the forehead with it......then dent the side of the can and bash yourself again. Which hurts more?

lol if you get in a accident that hard with a truck that had no crumple zone, your brain will look like mashed potatoes and your truck will be totalled anyways. Id rather have the crumple zone to soften the crash.... Even tho its gonna rack you around pretty hard..
