the style you are referring to is the "pocket style". the only certain thing about painting them is that their value will double.... maybe even more. it is just a matter of personal taste. i would see how they look on the truck first, and then determine if you wanted them changed. most body shops will want to make sure that they fit right first anyhow.

I have the flares you are talking about on my truck. They are bushwacker pocket style flares. They have the indentations that make them look like they are bolted on. They come from the factory in a matte black finish. I had mine painted to match my truck. Any shop should be able to paint them no problem. There are pics in my gallery. I will try to post a couple of pics.

believe it or not, i was quoted over 300 just to have them painted...... and that was with my labor to install them prior to make sure they fit correct, then remove them for the painting, and then do the final install.... that is why i dont yet have them. 650-700 dollars total seems more than they are worth to me. granted where i live will have some affect on the pricing, however im sure it isnt too far off from the rest of the world.

The tires are Nitto TG's 305/55/20. If I remember correctly I paid around $400 for the flares. Luckly I know a guy at the local Auto body shop and he painted and installed them for me. It's good to have friends. However, when I took the truck home I took one of the flares off to see how they install. They seem to install easily using 4-5 brackets screwed into the factory holes. Hardest part seemed to be removing the factory trim.
If you bought your truck from a dealership talk to the salesman who sold the truck to you and see if they would contact the body shop who repairs their used cars, (not the dealerships body shop) and see if they can get you a good deal on the painting of the flares. I would guess some where between $80-$120 to paint maybe a little more if they install them for you. Good Luck
