Stock alternatore ampage
#2
For 1987, the stock alternator was a 2G. My 1990 2G was rated at 70 amps maximum. I would think yours would probably be 70 or less. Remember that is a max rating and you don't want it to operate continuousily any where close to that number. Are you having problems or wanting to add a large electrical item?
Upgrading to 3G @130 amps and a more reliable alternator connection is pretty easy.

If you just search this forum, you will find lots of info.
The conversion does include changing the connection. The 2G often has problems with the connections. Sometimes it leads to a fire. They are affectionately know has the flaming ford alternator.
If you have specific questions after your reseach, ask away.
I used a upull alternator for $20. Connections and fuse block ran another $25 or so.
Very easy and inexpensive upgrade.
Good luck Frank
