I got my first puking out of white smoke yesterday..WTF is that..I had about 20 cars behind me that probably thought I was getting ready to blow up..I thought I was getting ready to blow up...I guess blowing out white smoke is better than the black...

I had the same thing happen. Took it to the Ford Dealer and he said this was another symptom of Regen.

Regen seems to have a lot of symptoms. I wish it had a light.

This is correct. It shouldn't be this bad though. Ford needs to back down on the amount of HC being injected until the DOC comes up to temp.

Funny you should mention that. . .

I was dropping the kid off at school this morning and the regen kicked in. (I have a Job#1 truck so no message indicator) I put the truck in park to let the kid out in the car line. The rpms went up to 1200. Anyway, I get back going and as soon as I got out of the school zone, I accelerated and a huge cloud of white smoke came out. In my mirrors I thought someone had an accident behind me. . unlucky bastages I thought, but on second look, it was from my James Bond spy truck. It was like a huge cloud of white smoke.

It cleared up and didn't happen any more on the way to work. Did I just blow out vaporized soot or what?

I had the same thing happen twice, and then it got stuck in Regen mode for several days (the infamous 1200 RPM idle). They reflashed it last week with the latest version of code and reset the DPF sensors and it took care of it. Make sure you have the latest code...

Nope, just hydrocarbons, i.e. raw, unburned fuel.

We've had the smell, usually post regen though. Smells like plastic burning, all the way from under the hood, back to the tailpipe. I haven't noticed it in the cabin though.

No smell in the cabin. If I exit the truck before the soot cooking cycle is over, it smells like when the wife is running the self-cleaning process on the oven and the metal is popping.

I haven't had any smoke or high idling of any kind since they re-flashed the code last week. I haven't felt it go into Regen, either, but I've only been about 100 miles since they re-flashed it. I have sooty tailpipes, too, and I'm going to clean them this weekend and see if the buildup comes back...

Also, the upshifting is MUCH smoother after the new code.

Just another symptom of regen, I like the idea of a light that tells you.
