hi allen,
its been wet off and on, and foggy. we had snow up to shortys corner, just 1/2 mile east of freds rv. on the way up to mt.hood on hwy 26. and thank you for the welcome
we're to high up for flooding.
you have atruck named bertha? i have a car named bertha! my stock car! its one of the other makes. i unedrstand this forum is for ford only. and i do own a ford. that ranger has been really good to us . doesn't leak a drop of anything even w/146,000
miles on it. and we've been just about everywhere in it. and i mean everywhere!

No, the trucks name is not Bertha, my 64 Galaxie is Bertha, the truck goes with the Galaxie to all the shows. The name Bertha has stuck with the car, my wife and I sense I got her in 1973. You drive a stock car? We come to Portland with our Grandkids 1/4 midgit race cars, we have 4 of them.

hey allen,
we do have somthing common we have cars named bertha! except mine is an old dodge 68 coronet stock car! my exwife told me that she's a bertha big fat and ugly!the old car i've owned almost 20 years fun to drive needs alot of work and needs a new cage! she has a 6ft peice of channel iron in the right door. back in 89' i gave $50.00 for the old bird. chased the old owner around for 10 years to pay him. when i found the guy i gave 100.00$ . he said thanx. i understand this strictly ford only forum!
i just had to get it off of my chest! i've owned bertha for almost 20 years !
i love that old relic she's paid for and she deserves a good home and not the crusher!!
yes she's all beat up has tire marks on the drivers door, you know the greatest thing is
i can say i got to do what i wanted to do, and bertha has been there and done that! with me! that's no expereince nobody can ever take away!!!

I was out of action for the week end, working in my shop. My wife named Bertha for the Trogadyke song from the 70's about Bertha Butt, big woman Bertha. If you look in my gallary you will see under the 66 4x4 gallary a picture of her with the trucks when I was still building the shop. Are you still racing yout Bertha?

yes i did last year2006. at river city speedway in st. helens oregon. i sat this year out and helped a buddy of mine run his limited late model stock car up at south sound speedway in rochester,wa. we came in 6th in points out there. this year.
before i moved out here i race the old girl in nebraska at i-80 speedway in grenwood,ne. since the track opened in 1994 to 2000. in the hobby stock class. the lenght of i-80 is 4/10ths mile dirt oval.
and i think i'm going to sit this next year out, due to lack of funds. and i have to do some work on her anyway. all the bushings in the front end are spent.

There is a good 1/4 dirt track over here in Madras, I know a few racers that come from over in the valley to race out here and like it alot. We race the grandkids over there at the Appenrose Dairy all summer. We just gat out 4 car last week and need to come over to get it soon. I got until March to get the cars race ready.

hi allen,
i've heard of madras, oregon. my boss drag races there sometimes.
his race truck is priscilla. a 1950 f1 ford that does wheelies. off the line. he mostly raced at woodburn drag strip. i was thinking about trying my circle track hand at it just once. w/ my ranger but, it would be my luck i'd blow it up, and then i'm screwed.
then my wife would kill me for blowing the truck up. then i'd had to listen to it all the way home on the back of a wrecker. for a 100 miles.
we raced at Banks, oregon. a few times, this year totalled my buddys street stock out there.
you mentioned that you have 4 race cars? or the #4 car? just asking.
me and my wife both have stock cars. she wants to run the womens division out at st.helens. mine is a 1968 dodge coronet w/318 and 360 heads [aawj] comp cams extreme energy 274 duration 488 int lift 491 exhaust lift. and 7.3litre ford diesel valve springs. the block, rods, pistons are stock. out of a 82' fifth ave. that was plug up.
it has piston slap at 2000 rpm. you can hear it. w/904 tranny and 373 gears
my wifes car is a 1973 firebird w/a 1971 chevy 350 4 bolt. out of a 1971 chevy pickup
same cam, lifters and push rods, chevy dual spring valve springs. .030 over new pistons, rods, clevite tri armour bearings. 2v and exhaust manifolds, 2 1/2 inch exhaust.
w/flowmaster mufflers. powerglide 2 speed tranny and the rear diff gears are?

sorry didn't mean to ramble!

Yes, we have 4 race cars, our grandkids race them. 3 of them are made by Tad Fiser and 1 is made Ken Rice. They run GX 120 Honda motors. The kids are 5-8 year olds, and the race on a 1/20th of a mile circle track.

oh ok sorry.
cool man. get them into racing early. that way they stay away from all the bad stuff in
life.
i started driving race cars when i was 14 years old. i'm 46 years old. now. i still remember that day i climbed into a stock car, i was scared to death, terafied.
and my first time out i didn't do very well. but i got better. and i won a-mains. i learned real fast. how to drive. a race car. i drove a 56 ford 2dr hrdtp #35x
@ playland speedway.

more later
