Gear vendors OD unit. Rubber you have one dont ya?
So I have been looking at an increase in mileage, and this is the biggest bang for your buck if it works. Does anyone out there have the RPM drop from your stok od to the 2x od. How much beter does the truck tow? Does it shift automatically between the split? Satisfied?

for what it's worth. I took it out of my old truck before selling it. It's basically a core at this point. Saving up to put it behind my 5 speed. It will help the life of you're tranny if you do a lot of towing. you will probably have 6 forward sppeeds 1st, 2nd, 2nd over, 3rd, 3rd od and 3rd double over. I dunno how much they get for one new though.

Todd-I didn't get that low in rpm mine was a c-6 trans with no OD and a 4:10 rear so if your setup has you cruising at 60 at about 2200, it will drop down below 2 grand anyway how much I dont know. The nice thing is you can choose which gearbox you want to shift up or down, just push the button like for hills and passing Have you been to their website? They've got a lot more info than me -I'm just going from memory I hope to put mine in and get 9 speeds! I wish there was a way to clutch the transfer case-that would make it 18! LOL

Duck,
So can you use it say at 60 mph? Is there a cutoff point in it predetermined? The way I am looking at it is at 60 mph, I would be getting better MPG then a 373 rear end. Mine stock in my 3/4 ton turns 15 t0 1550 rpm at 60, and about 1950 at 70. So this would transform my dully into a ricer almost?? It would have to bump fuel mileage by quite a bit. I would guess to 22 or 23 on the highway? Is that what you were getting on a longer trips?

Yes, you can definatly use it at 60. You can't really run them below about 30mph because they engage by hydrolics driven by the drive shaft speed. At 60 with a 3.73 rear end, your rpms will probably be about 11-1200. I have 4.10's in mine and it works out perfect. On long trips, I tend to push the truck. So I generally see about 18-19. If I wouldn't drive like a jackass, probably 20.
