Well guys, the truck now has a name. This is a good one, so tune in.
So I'm working on the truck tonight, and my wife walks out to the shop and scares the shizzle out of me. Wasn't expecting to see anyone out there. Well, my wife has been working out and really getting into shape. So she had to come and show me her progress by wearing a lime green pair of Rockie Mountain jeans that she used to wear when we first met. WOW! She looks better in them now than she did at 18! I don't know how those pants EVER went out of style but oh well. So I'm "Checking out her progress" and we decide it's time to break in the new truck, so to speak! Well, a thought occured to me HMMMMM?
I bought the truck in the Rocky Mountains.
My favorite pair of Rockies are in the floor board.
And the truck is ROCKIN'!!
Why not name it Rockee?
I chose to spell it that way, because Rockie is girly, my trucks are MALE!
And Rocky is too Italian
So I decided to spell it funky. People will remember it after they ask about it, or at least that's what I think.
So ROCKEE it is.
But it will have to wait for a DRD sticker until it can blow coal. Around here people actually look for DR trucks, just to see if they can beat us.....Poor soles. Anyway with a little luck, the coal will come soon, our fellow FTE'er fishmandotcom is gonna help me out with a few tricks.

Oh yeah, I forgot.....Progress
Some of the dash lights were out, so I took the dash apart. The clear lens was also stained, so it needed to be addressed.
Got the new lights in, looks good. But here's a usable trick for the lens.
I took rubbing compound (Turtle Wax, green and white can) and compounded until the stains came out. Then I went back with Pledge. It filled all the little swirls from the compound, which wasn't bad at all. Cleaned the face of the gauges with a soft paint brush and BAM!!! It looks like a brand new cluster.
And FYI, I learned a long time ago, NEVER wipe the gauge face with anything. The letters and #'s come off very easy. It's like it's not even paint, more like liquid paper. It comes off that easy. So never rub, just light brush.
I also cleaned the FPR screen and shimed the fuel to about 71psi. It seems to run alot smoother. I guess that's it for tonight, it was a hard day in the shop. LMAO

Wow Duck way to go on breaking the truck in. I get what I like to call social security sex..........I get a little each month but not enough to live off of!!! I really wish I lived closer to DRD. I would like to have some late night wrench sessions. After you (break the truck in) of course.

LOL!! i don't think i'll be ridin' in the back seat of "Rockee" anytime soon... lol. that's the good think about vinyl bench seats!!!!! if you spill something, it's really easy to clean up!!!! ok i'm out to school now, don't break the suspension cody, it may be 4x4, but the suspension can still only tweak so much.... I bet it could be done cOOn.
Well, the transformation has begun. Tonight the alcoa's went on. I still can't believe I'm taking No.3 apart. Guys, I ain't gonna lie, my wife came out to check on me and asked if I was okay. I teared up. I love that truck, and it kills me to do this to it. But it will live on in the new truck, and hopefully I'll take to it as strongly as I did No.3. I'll post pics tomorrow.
