My truck is a '97 so I suspect it's lack of throttle response is probably old age taking toll, but my truck only has 102000 miles on it... I know it needs a tune up but I'm debating when to schedule that in with the mods I have in mind.

Really nothing to tune up in today's engines.
Plugs and wires every 75,000 miles or so.
Fuel filter evry 30,000 or so.
Air filter, oil and filter.
That's about it really.

I guess abottle of fuel system cleaner can't hurt.

Hmm..
-I changed the plugs already, and I have a good idea of the wires I want to get. I think I'm gonna try and add a home made grounding kit to the ignition but I'm still wait on replies to my other post Also I'm kicking around the idea of replacing the stock ignition coil with a performance one from Accel.
-I put a cold air intake on the truck and changed the oil and filter last week, also did the 5spd tranny oil (what a PITA that was lol)
-battery was changed not too long ago.
Now for the fun part...
My trucks past the 100,000 mile marker so I want to do a pretty comprehensive tune-up
-timing belt (if I'm not mistaken the timing belt runs all the accessories too)
-water hoses (which means I'd have to add new coolant)
-fuel filter
while I'm doing all of this I might as well take off the stock fan and I'm pretty sure I can squeeze two hayden 16" Efans in there for 3000CFM of combined airflow.

Also at a latter date I'm installing Gibson headers and a gibson catback exhaust. In Texas only major metropolitan areas are required to run emissions tests so I'm wondering how much I really need those cats. too lol.

My heads going crazy with all these ideas I can do to my lil v6 and the news that there is a supercharger system out there isn't helping haha

Just a suggestion- Stick w/ Motorcraft wires.

There is a pretty easy way to do it. But I guess it's a little late now to tell you that, eh?

Yes, the serpentine belt runs everything. Not too hard to change. Just pay attention to which way you have to move the tensioner pulley to remove tension from the old belt. Once it is off and you go to put the new belt on, it is nice to know EXACTLY which way you need to be pushing to move the tensioner arm. It takes some pretty good grunt, so have a decent sized pull bar to put the socket on.

You can replace them if you want to, but honestly I can't recall every hearing of anybody having a hose burst.

You have the special little tool you need? Be sure to relieve pressure from the system first.

Not sure but you might get CEL on if you eliminate the cats. But, you can always make up a, I think they are called, "MLE" - Malfunction Lamp Eliminator

Have fun!!

Yea, I had to go get a little pump to fill the tranny with.

Might as well replace them while I'm in there.

That's why I asked.

About $5 at Advance Auto or similar shop.

OBTW, re: the transmission fill. There is an easier way.

How much would it roughly cost to put 4.10 gears in a unit?
