Question for Numberdummy-connector pins?

Can individual pins (or entire connectors) for older ford connectors be purchased? I am referring to the take apart type of connectors used on my 1975 TBird steering column on the dash harness side of the connectors for both the column mounted ignition switch and the C shaped connector carrying the signals, 4 way flashers and horn. Both of these connectors can be readily disassembled by removing the red plastic center bars allowing access to individual pin/wires. I am trying to wire my truck using an aftermarket EZ wiring kit marrying to my reworked 75 TBird column. Part numbers? Unfortunately the after market wiring kits are made to marry to a GM tyope steering column.

1. Some salvage yards will sell plugs off of a harness, some not. Maybe you could find a ford with a good male/female close to the year you need.
2. Find a salvage steering column harness plug for a chevy to match you new harness.
3. Auto Dealers, some times, will only sell plugs as part of a harness but have male/female pins in stock to repair items.
4. I've purchases plugs from military electrical surplus stores.
5. Last, many avionic airplane radio shops will sell plugs/pins as many install new systems and repairs and the are mostly water resistant. Some pins are solder and some are crimped. Some require special pin pusher and retractors.
6. Don't forget craigslist for guys parting out something you could use.
Have a great day,chuck

Since the 1975 Bird's tilt wheel turn signal switch (D7LY-13341-B) is the same 1972/76, any 1972/76 T-Bird / 1973/76 Mark IV / 1977/79 Mark V will have the same connectors. The connectors will also be the same as: 1974/79: Torino/Cougar/LTD II (NOT LTD).

Bill, I have the multi pin connectors (all four-two male and two female). What I am looking for is the individual pins (female ends) that insert into the plastic connectors which would be on the dash harness ends of the original donor car ( 75 Tbird) since I am trying to terminate the ez wiring aftermarket wiring into the original Tbird plugs. When the column was removed from the Tbird, the dash harness ends were saved but with just very short wiring protruding. I can butt splice about 15 ends but I was hoping for a cleaner ( non cootie bobbed) connection. Were the individual pins available to do harness repairs or was the only option whole harness replacement if a pin was damaged?

You indicated that the connectors were the same for several models and years. Are the connectors available new from Ford? Part numbers? I tried the aftermarket wiring people that say splice what I have.

If you fail to find the female pins an alternate fix that we have used in aviation, you could find another original female end of the harness and cut it off with 10-12 inch leads. Then you could add any 15 plus plug male/female in line with solder pins. It would add a extra plug but would look better and safer than 15 staggered soldered wires.lThere should be a local copmany that sells aftermarket plugs. Have a great day, chuck

Do you have a friendly Ford Dealer in your area?

Ask them to show you the following:

1973/79 Ford Car Parts Catalog / Section 144 / Pages 26 thru 37.

100's of wire connectors with pictures and descriptions are listed.

You also could call Green Sales 800-543-4959 for assistance.

A good indie parts store or NAPA will have similar catalogs with the pics and descriptions...plus, they'll prolly have the parts in stock.
