It is for a driving event type meet that involves some 4X4 off road wheelin' that won't do damage to your vehicle(hopefully).

The place is called "7 Mile Beach" and it's in the town of West Barnstable, MA on Cape Cod.

It is a state facility and it does have certain requiremments to do it. You have to obtain a 1 day permit and meet the requirements/inspection.

There is a large parking area and you basically drive out through the dunes onto the beach area which also leads to some more dunes.

It would be much better to do this in the "OFF SEASON" (October - April) when there are far fewer people around.

I will get more specific information if there is enough interest.

 

Hey Beast...I think this is a great idea... ...thanks for the suggestion. If it's not too much trouble...maybe you could do the research...permits...fees...restrictions...etc. and present it to the group we can perhaps drum up some interest for the event.

I'm not sure about Sunday yet, but I will definitely get all the info required for this type of meet. It's been a while since I've been out there. Hopefully it's still a possibility.

 

Limited to MA registered vehicles only and access is May ~ November.

That makes sense...can't really see fighting snow during the off season months. While you're at it...see if vehicles with Massachusetts Dealer Plates can go. There is a registration for the plate...not for a specific vehicle.

 

So any other truck registered in like RI,NH and VT and of course CT can not do this

 

Vehicles will be inspected for required accessory equipment:

Shovel: Heavy-duty shovel equal to a military folding shovel

Towing Device: Any of the following which are at least 14 feet long:
Tow Strap: 11/2"; Rope: 3/4"; Chain 5/16"; Cable 1/4"

Jack: Standard size (e.g., vehicle manufacturer's jack)

Jack Support Board: Wood: 10" x 12" x 11/2" or Plywood: 24" x 24" x 3/4"

Tire Pressure Gauge: Must register to 5 p.s.i. or lower

SCV's and pick-up truck campers must also have a fire extinguisher and permanently mounted holding tanks.

Spare Tire: Must meet tire standards outlined below.

Tires: All 5 tires, including the spare tire, must meet or exceed the standards outlined below. These standards are minimum acceptable tire standards.

My bad..... it calls for a "STATE" registered vehicle. It does not say Massachusetts only.

Also, the above info is general info for ORV's for "Oversand Beach Driving" within the "Cape Cod National Seashore".

"7 Mile Beach" or "Sandy Neck Beach" in West Barnstable is NOT INCLUDED in the "Cape Cod National Seashore". There may be some more specific differences for that area for which I will find out.

If my memory serves me well enough, they will be very close to those guidelines.

Hey Beast...thanks for the research...looks like the fee would be $50 for each truck for the day...gonna be a hard sell...most of our GTGs are 3-4 hours. We can throw it out and see what happens. Another possibility is for folks to group together in trucks and split the cost among the riders.

 

Yeah, it is a bit expensive for a few hours but the drive down the beach alone is an hour. If you want to explore the dunes it can easily take 2-3 hours for the round trip. Then everyone has to air up the tires again, so it would easily be a half day without counting any glad handing, gabbing, eating, etc.

 

I definitely think it's an idea worth throwing out there...let the masses decide. It could also be something for a few of the guys to do!!! Thanks again for your suggestion and research!!!

 

Any time at all. I know I had a great time there a couple of times and it was well worth it to me. It's especially fun if the tide comes in while you're at the end of the beach.... it got a little tight against the dune cliff when I had to keep the windows closed form the waves breaking then splashing over the hood!!!!
