PM FORDF350BABY, he has true dual 2.5" on his 95' F-350 460 he can tell you all you need to know. Check past threads for videos of his truck. Duals on your truck is no problemo.
Just wanted to say thank you ! I guess from what iv'e seen that i could gut the converter and run 2 1/2 in. to my tips. Would a 4in tip 22in long make this truck loud.
Don't gut the converter. I recommend replacing it with a good high quality high flow converter instead. The tip will not make the truck any louder, though it may make it deeper. Dual 3" is too large. Talk to FORDF350BABY since he has one of these trucks.
For legal reasons, as well as resale value and just doing the right thing, don't gut the cats, it is illegal to do so in the US, and nobody likes a vehicle that smells like burning gas. The difference in power between a vehicle with good high flow cats and straight pipes is often less than 5 hp at best. You won't even feel a difference that small.

You should be pleased with what a true dual exhaust will do for your 460. I found the enigne runs very nicely with the 2 1/2 piping. It has great throttle response, still has its low end grind, and ever better, it gave the truck some top end for merging onto the highway ect. Let us know how it works out. I will be getitng the headers put in around Christmas time, you should also consider slapping some long tubes on your 460 to if you really want to capitalize on your exhaust system. Good luck!

Which would be the better headers. Ive located the same equipment you have through oreilly at a very good price and i have the use of a pipe bender. so i can do the work myself considebly cheaper. Should i go ahead and put air filter and chip in while im at it?

If you can do the work yourself then more power to you. Is your 1996 F250? 4x4, and is it automatic, or manual? I am sure a lot of companies offer headers for your truck. If you are actually seriously contemplating headers, I would urge you not to begin making your exhaust until they were put in, other wise you’re going to have a pain in the ass project refabricating the piping to the headers. Otherwise, if you didn't plan to run them for a year or so, then you will be fine, by that time you won’t mind as much going back in and getting it right.
Not sure what your exact truck is, but these would fit a automatic, 2 or 4 wheel drive. These are a nice set of headers, not to expensive, not cheap at all, just a nice in between reliable header for your rig.
Sound good. I dont want to sound like a know it all but i've put many on! but never for my self. So i want to be sure it would be ok for my year of truck. When i done it , it was in the 80's.you could pretty much change what you want. Im not up to date on the newer years. How will these headers hold up. I know in the past years people had problems with gaskets. I pretty much want mant.free exhaust[not factory though]. What was you opion on the cool air box air filter and chip? Thanks for you input!!! My truck is a 1996 F250 2 wheel drive 7.5.
Those headers will fit your rig then, and those are on a 1-10 scale, a 6.5. They are ceramic coated, which is a plus, so you will get a good amount of years out of them, there mid length/longtube, so they will fit nicely without the massive baggage of long tube headers not fitting. In terms of gaskets and locking hardware, on that same page, there are "suggested parts", which have high quality header gaskets, and locking nuts, which are essential for a nice tight fit that wont come undone over time. I think the air intake is a nice touch to a free flowing exhaust, I am running a K&N, it whistles like a turbo, and gives a nice gasp of fresh air for the engine when shes reving high. I dont have a chip, but its deff worth the investment, because it will give you a more aggressive fuel curve, hence, more power. The only down side is you will need to run high octane fuel in order to utilize the chips full advantage, other wise your engine will knock because the timing will be off with regular gas.
