Rhino Linings TuffLine is almost indentical to Linex. Rhino developed it to be a exact competitor to Linex. TuffGrip is the softer high traction stuff. If you are throwing in rocks, go with the HardLine or Linex. If you haul sand, Go with TuffGrip as it stands up to sand abrasion much better then TuffGrip will.
I agree that Pierre Gagnon (Pres of Rhino) is trying to catch up with LINE-X. But, Rhino's products really are not like LINE-X. These products are his second attempt to try to compete with LINE-X. His first was to try to have Tuff Grip at least look like LINE-X by changing the spray wand of their low pressure Tuff Stuff, which really was not good enough. So, now, Rhino has slightly modified two already existing products so that they can go through a high pressure machine. The Rhino products are both still 2:1 chemical ratio products (LINE-X is 1:1) and neither Tuff Grip or Hardline look like LINE-X and neither are as strong as LINE-X. As far as fading, Rhino has Solarmax, which is actually made by a company called Bayer. But, not many Rhino dealers offer it because it's a 1:1 chemical ratio and the dealer must purchase another machine to spray it.
LINE-X also has Xtra which Rhino currently does not have a product like it. Actually, no other bedliner brand does right now.
EDIT: Forgot to mention: LINE-X has additional products coming out next year. I'll learn more about them at LINE-X's 3rd annual Global Dealer Conference in February.

Thanks for the responses guys! Since I'm on a budget, I guess I'll just get the Hardline. I don't have the funds to respray with Linex, even though I should have done that from the beginning it looks like. I think the Hardline will be durable enough (if it's more durable than the Tuffgrip) to withstand all the stuff I'm doing with it. Generally I'm pretty easy on it, but I still do like to beat it up occasionally. In other words, I'm not afraid to put things back there, such as those huge ass rocks when knew they'd prolly do some damage.
Beerstalker, I am very jealous of your truck. I'm sorry to see your old one got totaled! I loved that body style along with the 7.3. (didn't see which one you had). How did you like your grille guard? I ordered a Ranch Hand for my Tundra just the other day and it should be in HOPEFULLY at the end of next week or it'll be installed in a month. They're having major backorder problems.
Thanks for the compliment. The truck is still a work in progress, but I am really happy with it.
I was sad to see the old truck go, but she saved my life, and I love my new truck so it didn't take long to get over it. Here is a thread where I told how it got totalled. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/54...d-my-life.html
I was relatively happy with my Westin grill gaurd. The paint had started chipping off in a few places, but not too bad. It was pretty solid, and as you can tell from the pics it took the impact with the back of the car well. I have thought about getting a new one for my truck, but I really kind of have my heart set on a Buckstop Outlaw replacement bumper instead.
Truthfully though, I would suggest you put off buying the brush gaurd and spend that money to get a LineX Xtra bedliner sprayed in. It is well worth it in my opinion. Don't haul anything for a few days afterward though. Line-x says you can a few hours later, but I ended up getting some small scratches in the liner from moving my toolbox around in the bed when I was re-installing it. Most people don't notice them, but of course every little flaw on your own truck always seems huge to you.

Wow! You're a damn good friend. That really sucks about your truck. I never drove one of those, but I did test drive an '07 and I loved that thing.
Those buckstop bumpers are awesome! 1/4" steel! Whew, and I thought the 12 guage of the Ranch Hand was solid. Solid enough though that some dude hit a deer going 65 and it didn't do any damage to his truck or the guard. I think it's safe to say you'll be safe with one of those. Get the rear bumper too if you have the cash. I read that some guy with a Dodge had a Ranch Hand full replacement bumper front and rear and was involved in some huge pileup (like 7 cars) and his car was the only one to driveway without any damage.
I'm not big on taking a step back and I don't think my dad would be down for that either. If I used my truck every day for a living, then it'd definitely be something to consider. I looked up those mats and they're like $45 so that would be a pretty cheap alternative to getting the durability of the Linex and just tossing it on the Rhino.
For what its worth, I had the Ameraguard liner sprayed in my truck and am VERY happy with it. I have seen some other spray in liners that were rubbery, some that were pealing off (only to show shiny paint under) and some were fadded bad!
This company (Ameraguard) has a hard, plastic like liner that came out great. The texture was uniform, he did a through job prepping and masking and I am very pleased with the results...
I am sure each Ameraguard location is different. But the one I went to did a fantastic job! They also give a lifetime warranty!
The really important part about spray-in liners is experience. How many liners has the indivual sprayer done. My experience says at least 100 liners. It take finese to do a good attractive liner and the more he or she does the better the finished product.
Rhino Linings is number 1 in sales and has been around since mid-1980's, line-x is the new guy in town , 3 yrs
Umm, no that's incorrect. Actually, the original LINE-X company, called Burtin Corp was in business before Rhino selling polyurethane foams. Rhino came out with a bedliner product (cold, low pressure application, 100% polyurethane) in the 1980's and two years later, LINE-X came out with theirs (heat, high pressure application, polyurethane/polyurea blend).
According to Frost & Sullivan, a firm that monitors the automotive industry, LINE-X and Rhino have about the same market share for truck bedliners. However, LINE-X sprays more product, meaning that LINE-X has a larger secondary market, such as light industrial, military, etc.
Rhino is currently trying to catch up with LINE-X. Their first move was to replace their company president. Their new pres, Pierre Gagnon, is a pretty good guy and has taken steps to try to catch up with LINE-X. But, LINE-X, in the last year, has also been pretty aggressive. And, LINE-X has a few more products (some patented) coming out in 2008.

The new advanced Line-X product has kevlar mixed into it. My buddy is having it installed tomorrow. we'll see how it looks. I have had the original Line-X in my truck for a couple years and it has been great. Nothing has bothered it.

Life is to be enjoyed. Find ways to make it happen!!
Well I decided to get the regular Tuffgrip again. They did an incredible job spraying it. They sanded down the tailgate and the pillars in the rear and anywhere else you'd look at it and say "hey, it's twice as thick." It is twice as thick; however, and you can barely notice becuase of how great of a job they did.
I went with the Tuffgrip because it is twice as thick now and it really did withstand all my abuse. He told me he has never seen a bedliner sprayed by him fade as fast as mine did. He took care of it in an excellent and professional manner and I recommend his shop to anybody. Also, he said that it might have been a bad mix from a new barrel.
When I picked it up the next morning (bad traffic prevented me to getting out there and I would have felt bad if I made him wait for prolly an hour or so after they closed) the bedliner was almost "warm" to the touch. I'll try and post some pics later if I'm not feeling too lazy.
I'm glad your happy with it. But, I hate to tell you, your Tuff Grip is going to fade also. Tuff Grip is an aromatic (not aliphatic) product and will fade from the sun's UV light. If you wanted a fade resistant Rhino product, you have to get Solarmax, that's the only Rhino product that is aliphatic.
Bad mix in the other barrel? Probably not, Rhino is known for fading pretty bad.
