joetheplumber is starting off with a positive reputation.
starting trouble with 1990 f150 302 ford pickup truck.

Having trouble with starting truck after diving a few miles or more,i cut the motor off and i have to wait an hour before it will crank again.Can anyone tell what the trouble is?? Thank you in advance ~ Joe

any diagnostics? what does it do when you try to turn it over?

Thanks for reponding.After you drive the truck a few or more miles and cut the motor off,you can't recrank the motor for an hour. Its like the battery is so low it wont crank. (draging). I don't have the money to have the truck checked. Thanks for trying to help me. ~ Joe

Joe, most places like auto zone will check the starter and battery free.....sounds like the starter to me. after it gets hot, I've had several thru the years do that. Check it

just remember that you will need to take the starter out of the truck to have it tested. do the battery first...

also- if your header collector pipes are in near proximity to the starter, heat could be the issue.
a cheap fix is header wrap between the starter and pipe.
