truck bed misery

I am planning on purchasing a 1979 F-150. The bed is rusted through in several spots. I need some tips on fixing the bed. Could I cut the bottom out of the bed and weld a new one in? Any tips would be helpful

i got 1/2 way through trying to patch my box when i got sick of it and bought a rust free one...it was $600 well spent and i should have done that to begin with.

I believe I can just buy the bottom of the truck bed but how hard to install i dont' know
