New guy needs help with HD F-150!
Howdy all.
I found these forums while browsing around for some info. I currently own two 2002 Ford Rangers which are suprisingly identical. (Both silver, same grill, bed is different.) I love them both dearly. I've also been recently driving a red 96' F-250 with 210,000 mi. Still moves like a champ! My Dad owns a landscaping company, and we only own Ford Trucks, from an F-150 to a Ford Aeromax Semi. There simply is no replacement or substitution for a Ford truck.
Anyway, the reason for this thread is because of my brother. He bought a Harley-Davidson F-150 last year. The sales guy was a real conman and my brother an idiot. He told him that the engine was tuned to be way faster, it had a supercharger, and AWD. Well, this guy was right about absolutely nothing and my Bro didn't do any research of his own.
So we live in Ohio and winter rolls around. My brother soon realizes it isn't AWD as thought and now before another winter rolls in, he wants to do something about this. Time for the stupid logic. He was going to trade in the truck that cost him $50,000 for a $30,XXX something Hummer.
"But it has Stabilitrack!" he says.
I told him that he was an idiot. All he needs was to replace the 22 in. rims and low profiles tires with some winter rims and snow tires.
Fast forward to yesterday...
He tells me and my dad, (both huge car guys), that when he went to the dealership, and the service guy said he couldn't put smaller rims on. I know, WTF, but again, this isn't my vehicle.
I call total BS. I looked at the truck, and I see no reason to why you cannot put slightly smaller rims on there. The brake discs are not any larger than normal F-150's, which was my only possible explination of this stupidity.
So owners, help me out so I can put this to rest.
