06 F150 4.6

I am about to buy a half ton truck and I like the Ford the most. This will be my first Ford to own. MY last truck was a 99 GMC Reg cab short bed with the 5.3. I have searched for a reg. cab ford with the 5.4 but I have had zero luck. I am finding the 4.6 to be plentiful in the regular cab Fords. Are there any major problems with the 06's? Is the 4.6 performance upgrade friendly? I would really like to get the acceleration ability similar to my old truck. I am looking for all the info I can get. I searched the forums and found some great info!

I would keep looking for the 5.4 if you want to add upgrades. I just think the bigger the better, and the mileage, from what I've read, shouldn't keep you from the 5.4. I really haven't looked into upgrades for the 4.6, so I don't know how well they do. My 5.4 responded well to my upgrades, and I haven't even tried my programmer on level 3.
