Need a heater

Hi,

I bought a 66 F100. I am an extreme novice.

I don't think my truck even has a heater. Does anyone know where I can find diagrams or a manual describeing the heating system. I bought a heater core.

If I don't have one, can one be bought as a kit?

Any advice would help. Not sure were to start.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, You are a riot.

Raise you hood and see if there are two hoses (about 3/4in dia.) that go from the front of the engine to the firewall on the passenger side. The hoses attach to the heater core inside of the cab. The heater box contains the heater core.

It is pretty simple to remove it and swap in the new core. I doubt you would need much instruction on how to do it.

Find out if the items are there, and maybe we can talk you through it if needed.

Thanks john,

I know I'm an idiot when it comes to cars. That's why I got the f100, to learn.

I follow your advice and get back to you.

OK, I saw the hoses. It's dark now, so I look more tomorrow.

When I turn the heater on, I don't feel any air coming through the vents. I can't hear the motor either, but that might be because the engine is so load.

Maybe I need to replace the Blower Motor too.

You will need to turn the ignition switch on and rotate the **** on the far right of the dash to get the fan to come on. The engine doesn't need to be running for the heater fan to run. You will also need to pull that **** out aprox 3" to open the gates for air flow. The bezel should have Fan Hi Lo on it.

The best thing to do is get the nose in close and start pulling and twisting those ***** and watching what they do.

Good luck

John
