New Aussie heads...couple tech questions plus pics

http://s46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ussie%20Heads/

so i won these heads for 590 with shipping, but theres a small problem...if you look at the pictures the guide plates are notched and i have no idea why but i bought the heads anyway. so i got the heads today and a couple of these are broken, so my questions are why would someone notch these and what would cause them to break and has anyone converted cleavor heads back to cleavland heads?

Auction information..
Up for auction is a set of Aussie 302/351C heads set up for use on a 302 or 351W block. They have the higher velocity 2v port size and the 4v quench combustion chambers. Chambers are about 58cc's. They have been milled and drilled for screw-in studs and Manley guideplates. They have dual valve springs, good for .550 lift. The heads are used, but low mileage. The heads have had the coolant passages on the deck surface plugged and the intake sides have been drilled for using a windsor-style intake (I was using a B&A Track Boss, check other auctions, got 2). The heads also have provisions for running coolant out the front or back of the heads, check pics. The rockers will go with the heads, they are 351C ratio 1.73 full roller. If you wanted to run these on a 351C or a 351M/400, just plug the intake passages (one per head) and pop out the plugs on the deck surface and you are good to go. There is nothing wrong with these heads, I am just breaking up the motor in favor of building something different this winter. I have two B&A Track Boss intakes for sale as well as the shortblock (it is basically factory Windsor components with Boss 302-style dome pistons, fox-body oil pan and serpentine drive front cover and waterpump, and hydraulic .501/.533 cam. If interested, Email me, it would need to be picked up. Can send pics). I will be shipping the heads in two separate boxes. Shipping calculator will only reflect ONE head, so you must DOUBLE the shipping quote. I use UPS Ground as it is usually the cheapest. This auction is for the HEADS AND ROCKERS ONLY. Other pics are for genereal interest. MY RESERVE IS RIDICULOUSLY LOW, ABOUT WHAT A SET OF THESE HEADS GO FOR BARE. Thanks, happy bidding.

I am thinking that he cut the guide plates so that he could "tweak" the plates alittle to adjust the push rod alignment.

There might be some small difference in the pushrod alignment between a 'C' and 'W' bolck.

I've seen problems with some of the aftermarket guide plates not lining up correctly. I would just replace them. Also check the heads carefully for excess milling, cracks around the exhaust seats.
