standard or high output

i'm going to change the heater core in my "78" f-150 351M but when i wen tto get the core they asked standard or high output. is the high output for vehicles with A/C because i don't have A/C and am thinking a standard core is what i need. what happens if i put a high output core in instead? i have one hose almost collasped and one that is burning hot when i stop so for 20$ and an afternoon i'll change it.

You need the standard heat core. The high output is the same core that is used with A/C.

Hope this helps

The high output core will not fit in the standard heater box.

High output heaters were also used in non a/c vehicles. The control panel should say "High Output" if it is a high output heater.
