Thumbs up winter fe swap project

have one coming up. this
winter...
69 390- 435 box into a 67 m715 army truck.
divorced t/case and 5.89 gears.
want to do it cause 4 wheel drive and off road mag. says never ever use FE engine for off road vehicle. to heavy (hmmmmm)
we will see truck is 4700lbs as is.

An FE is too heavy for off-road? Tell that to my '74 highboy that spent half of it's life off-road

do not have a pic yet.
but stand by

truck is a freebee so there will be lots of $ for the engine and suspension.
son-in-laws truck and will be my engine. he was a Mech. Engineer from NMSU and also spent 4 yrs in the Society of auto. engineers and built 3 baja buggies for the western universities off road comp. lives .25 mile away
so
we start xmas weekend and it will be documented.

IMO, today's editors don't hold a candle to the editors of 10 years ago.....when tech was a big thing, and most expensive bolt ons for brand new Jeeps was not. Though I still subscribe, lol.

went by Dick Harrells speed shop few months ago.
looking for a few parts.
saw my redone 69 f-250 out front and had to look.
those guys are bow tie big time
owner even said they did not know why ford quit building the fe.
quoted as the best for engine by chevy guys makes me feel good i will have 4 veh with them soon.

i found it.
what power is in yours
the original tornado?
rode around in one a lot back in 73-74.
had a guy in town who was a collector all mil Vehic.
his half track was in lone wolf McQade driven by David Caradine.

rode rough as heck.

probably going to put OTR diesel bags on it for suspension and full cage
12k lb winch

will probably have some "extra parts."

it is about 400 miles from here in Red River
my trailer is already there to get a ride back xmas.

old ladys cobra has to get out of my shop so i have some space.

one of our local fire departments is going to cease operation Jan 1, I know they have an old military rig, I just don't know what it is. It doesn't look like the M715s in the link you guys posted, but I wonder how cheap they would let it go...

the old dodge power wagons from the 40s 50 s would wure be worth holding onto. if that is waht it is.
great place to put ford power...
i know this 715 has steel on the bed which is just almost like armor.
but not on the cab part.

Yea thats what it is, an M37... still has the old military lugs for tires.. Its been painted and it has a big water tank on it and hose/reels/controls for wildland firefighting... I can't imagine these things ever went about 45 MPH
