Win a Million and break your probation!

What a kick in the pants this is. This guys wins a million on a scratch ticket and breaks his probation as a convicted robbery felon. Part of his probation forbids him from purchasing lottery tickets.

I think he should keep it.. he paid his debt to society by going to jail..

Since when does the lottery constitute gambling?

I know there are people who become addicted to it, but how do they know he bought more than that one ticket??

I could see if he had won a big pot at Foxwoods or Vegas, but winning after spending $20.00 on a scratch ticket??

my 2 cents

gamble

verb 1 play games of chance for money; bet. 2 bet (a sum of money). 3 take risky action in the hope of a desired result.

The price of your ticket is the amount you are betting. It's certainly a game of chance.

I'd almost feel bad for the guy if he wasn't a convicted felon. Perhaps he was robbing banks to pay gambling debts? If so, the condition in his probation was to not gamble (including no lottery) makes sense. A couple scratch tickets, then maybe hit the track, take a trip to Foxwoods, bet on a few football games, talk to the bookies, run up some debt he can't pay....yeah, sure, he can stop anytime.

A gambling addict (again, I am speculating) has about as much business buying scratch tickets as a drunk has having a couple beers.

JMO of course.
