Edge and starter problem

I have an '05 F150 5.4 V8 4x4 with 15,000 mi. Just installed an Edge about 3 days ago. Programmed to level 2, it ran great in the beginning. Was averaging 17.8 mpg with more power. Reset to stock for comparison then back to level 2 and it never matched the original performance. Today it started vibrating (tranny?) in lvl 2. I swithed back to stock and now it won't start. The starter just spins without engaging. Edge says the unit didn't reset to stock correctly and are sending a new unit out. Anyone else have this problem or know what may be the cause? Seems like the programmer shouldn't affect the starter but I'm not a mechanic. Thanks.

It shouldn't impact the starter.... there's no way it could do that.

I didn't think it would but thought I'd ask the experts! Turns out the starter had to be replaced and 2 fuel injectors. Two cylinders filled with gas and wouldn't allow the engine to turn over, I think that may have caused the starter to fail. They had to be manually drained before it would start. Edge said somehow the programmer didn't completely return the program to stock when I reset it. Fell somewhere in between.
