Block casting numbers

More confusion on this 68 half cab. I thought I knew what I had-170 I6, but got cleaning up the motor- casting number is D8BE on block and the carb. I just got thinking since I am familiar with the 73-79 stuff- D8- means 78 or did they change this for the actual block?

D8BE would point to a 1978 block casting. It's a 200 engine, prolly from a Mustang, Fairmont or Granada.

Thanks- that is what I was guessing- I was assuming that it was the original 170, but noticed the egr valve on the intake, an knew the smog stuff did not come about until later.
